As an amateur photographer, I admire Willy Ronis. I had just discovered his work in 2001, thanks to Reporters sans Frontières album. I met him the same year by chance, in one of the meetings organized by the drugstore FNAC. He was there with Guy Le Querrec. The place was rather empty, but I was too impressed to ask any questions.
Seven years later, I tried to take part in a competition and I needed a recommandation of a photography professionnal. I did not know any photography professionnal. I found his address. I wrote to him and he answered.
Then, to thank him, I sent him what inspires one of his pictures. He called me and we met at his home.
I lost the competition, but I won great memories, more confidence and demands.
Thanks to him, I learned you can take great pictures at the corner of your street.
A few months later, it became true with this picture, published in Le Monde 2, the former Le Monde magazine. This crane did not catch the moon, but it built Eiffage‘s head office.
